History
The name
Founded in 2019, Server Startup owes its name to the hybris (now SAP Commerce) trenches. Long hours writing code at home, on planes, in hotels, on metro 3G. Sometimes even at the office... Watching that Tomcat message appear was pure rock'n'roll. The jolt of seeing the system come up.
Server for backend specialization. We like the guts, the complex logic, the hard problems. Rigor and optimization.
And Startup as philosophy. This sector never stops, and neither do we. We are no longer a startup, of course (then again, the Pont Neuf, New York City and the Camp Nou were not exactly built yesterday...) but we keep the nerve and excitement of day one.
The road
The project started as freelance work in 2017. In January 2019 it became a company, from Getxo. Today the pillar is three senior engineers, each with twenty-plus years in production.
That same 2019 we became an official Cloudflare partner. By 2022 the house motto was “+ Calidad − Cantidad”: more judgment, less volume. Both still stand.
The cube
If that log line is the spark, the rock'n'roll of our beginnings, the cube channels that energy today. It marks the maturity leap from building complex e-commerce to integrating platforms as demanding as Ocado. Its famous hives, where thousands of robots optimize picking to the millimeter, set the bar for logistics engineering.
Our logo is born from that grid. A symbol of the precision, rigor and scale that govern our daily work. A mirror to look at ourselves in. It is the same cube that guides you around this site.
The team
Three engineers hold this up. The same ones, start to finish.
Few clients at a time, by choice. Deep involvement, and no junior learning on your budget.
We work inside your team, not around it. The middleware wiring your ERP to the storefront, the WAF stopping bad traffic, the dbt model that closes the day's sales. That's where you'll find us.
Daniel Sío
The soul of the team. Master of ceremonies, above all when they end in karaoke. He will get you up a mountain or lift your mood, and keeps the e-commerce running. A good friend before a good engineer. And a very good one.
Ignacio Ibaseta
The team's Jiminy Cricket. Calls out every bend before you take it, which is why he always arrives first. Tireless, punctual as a
cron. Fine mechanics, zero breakdowns and plenty of miles together.
Julio Argüello
The captain. Say something cannot be done and he is all ears. He finds the way, with more time or less budget; half-done he cannot do. Rows all day and never misses a sunset with his other crew, the one at home.
Our values
Few things, done well. We'd rather say no than deliver late. If a project doesn't fit what we're good at, we tell you in the first meeting.
No investors. No debt. No hurry. The company runs on its own work, which lets us pick complex projects and long relationships.
Certainty over speed. We'd rather have a resilient architecture today than technical debt tomorrow.
Responsibility isn't delegated. Whoever designs the system delivers it and answers for it.
Technical independence. We prescribe technology on merit, not on vendor agreements.
Backing grassroots sport
We sponsor grassroots sport. Youth teams and the 2026/27 provincial championship.
